Asia Times Online :: iSad in Damascus: Syria reclaims Jobs

“A beautiful urdu couplet of Mir Saqib, used as a tribute to Steve Jobs, which i think sums up his life and work beautifully.
“Zamaana bade shauq se sun raha tha
Hum hi so gaye daastan kehte kehte”
( The world was listening with great relish;
I myself fell asleep while relating the tale).” — Apple of the i-world- Tabish Azeem in ‘The Hindu’ 9th Oct, 2011

A poem to remember forever as to what hate can do

When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

When they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

When they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

When they came for the Jews,
I remained silent;
I wasn’t a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out.

First they came…” - The origins of this poem first have been traced to a speech given by Niemöller on January 6, 1946, to the representatives of the Confessing Church in Frankfurt
